Everything about "coronavirus"
So, the global attack of “novel coronavirus” is
still continuing. Its effects have tremendously increased during last couple of
days. We all know the basic knowledge behind this pandemic like, it’s so
contagious that we can’t even touch or be any near to an infected person. We
know that it came from China and now affecting the whole world. We all are
advised to stay at home and not to go outside or do anything outside until
further notification. Anyway, now the big question arise here is that what is the
origin of this virus? I mean, why and how on earth such kind of a danger borne
at all. Health official say that it originated in a market in Wuhan, China that
sold dead and live wild animals that people ate for food.
So,
anyway what is this coronavirus? The name coronavirus is derived from Latin
corona, meaning crown or wreath. Well, coronaviruses are a group of viruses
that typically tend to affect human’s respiratory system. The viruses are
closely associated with infections like pneumonia and common cold. And finally
kills the host if necessary precautions are not taken in the beginning. It’s
named as coronavirus because it has the shape of a crown around it. The
outbreak of this virus occurred from Wuhan, China back in 2019. Coronavirus is
not a new virus. It was first discovered in 1930 among chickens. Then the human
coronaviruses were first discovered in 1960 and later many were also discovered
as well. Most of these have involved serious respiratory infections. Those
coronavirues were given many names also; however the current coronavirus is
specifically named as the “COVID-19”. The WHO
(world health organization) named the illness caused by the coronavirus as
COVID-19 because “co” for coronavirus, “d” for disesase, and :19” for the year
2019 (which is the year when the virus emerged)
People
who live or work in Wuhan, China have been quarantined in place and restricted
in traveling outside the city. Every country has taken strict actions in not to
travel in China now. The Chinese govt. initially locked down Wuhan- the
epicenter of the virus outbreak. However it was too late by then. The virus has
spread all continents now except for Antarctica. Economy of the whole world is affected
massively by it.
One very vital issue
that has contributed in spreading of this COVID-19 virus is its growth period
of two weeks (most commonly it is 5 days). During this certain amount of time,
a person may have the virus without displaying any symptoms at all and
definitely spread to others. It therefore makes it quite difficult and
confusing for people to know who actually has the virus and when should anyone take
any preventive action to protect themselves. This little fact here also
contributed hugely on spreading of the disease.
People
infected with this virus begin to experience mild cold or flu-like symptoms in
two or four days. Although the symptoms may vary from one person to another but
the typical symptoms are coughing, sneezing, fatigue, sore throat etc.
The simplest
thing to do to protect ourself is to wash our hands frequently for at least 20
seconds. We can use either hand wash or sanitizer having alcohol. If sometimes
perhaps, we come in touch with an suspicious person who might have the
potential to already possessing the virus; then worry not use the hand wash or
the sanitizer before touching your eyes nose or any kind of other thing at all.
Remember, the virus has the ability to stay alive for a period of 3 hours in the
air and could last for a complete day in other physical things.
Unfortunately
there is no any cure developed yet for this virus. However the only things that
we are told to do is to drink a lot of hot water, getting enough rest, staying
at home in order to prevent contact with infected ones. That’s all in our hands
now. Health officials from all around the globe are now working very hard to
find the cure of this virus. Until then stay safe and stay safe.
