Definition of statistics and it's uses

Statistics has been defined differently by different persons from time to time. Statistics may be called the science of collection, presentation, analysis and interpretation of data.
In modern times, statistics is viewed not as a mere device for collecting numerical data , now a days it has found it's huge application in planning of industrial work mathematical analysis, economic development, business purposes, medical science, in astronomy and also in certain aspects of war. If you are looking for a practical application by yourself then just look today's stockmarket or your favorite match whether it's football, cricket whatever you want everything is using statistics. So all in all I can say it is one of the most important subject without which the whole world would be unimaginable.
